Eric Ocasio (AKA. Cocotaso) presently lives and was also raised in Brooklyn, New York. Growing up in Brooklyn, he was exposed to many types of music such as: Hip Hop, Salsa, House, Latin Freestyle, and Pop Music with artists like: Nice & Smooth, Eric B & Rakim, Lisa-Lisa, Hector Lavoe, El Gran Combo and of course, Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Prince. Video Music Box, MTV, VH1 and Dj's such as Red Alert and Marley Marl were all instrumental tools used to develop his understanding and appreciation of music.
Driven by his love for the music comes a diverse Brooklyn style of hip hop with a Latin edge that gives listeners an awareness of his Puerto Rican heritage and traditional music. This was all greatly inspired by a Live performance by El Gran combo de Puerto Rico. The transition from Vinyl, to 8 track, to Cassette tape, to CD, to storage Mp3 devices has done wonders for the amount of music we can display throughout the industry . Cocotaso attended and completed the Audio Engineering course at the Institute of Audio Research. He looks to work with new sounds and new artists who share the same intensity and objective to feed the consumer's crave for great quality music. |
